Our Chef Joe Koncevitz is a shy man who is happy working quietly behind the scenes, blending the world’s best cuisines into creative new dishes for Smokey’s Tavern.

Joe takes his favorite culinary traditions, especially Italian and French, and then enlivens them with touches of different, exotic , international cuisines.  “I’m fascinated  by different food traditions,” he admits. “I love to make new dishes using the many cuisines I know.”

Joe has lived in the Vernon area all his life. He attended Sussex County Vo-technical school for culinary sciences where he graduated in 2000 and went on to the renowned Johnson & Wales University, Providence, Rhode Island, pursuing an associate degree in culinary arts. He earned his associates degree within 1.5 years, graduating in 2002.

All the while, Joe worked for Perona Farms in Andover, NJ – the landmark wedding and catering venue. He started working in Smokey’s eight years ago, when the Tavern first opened its doors, and has been here ever since creating the fabulous menu that combines the worlds cuisines in original, tasty dishes.
